NEEM began as discussions about inflated booth fees without guarantees and many of our key values were initiated at that time. The Founder, Cortney McMahon, was willing to take on the task of creating a "new way" of hosting events that remain fair and affordable to all. After a great amount of learning social media, connecting with others, and perseverance the first holistic event happened in September 2022. Over time, as others got involved it formed into the coalition it is today. With a brief pause in 2025, NEEM is returning to the Tennessee Valley area with more gusto and we except to continue scaling, sustaining, and creating remarkable experiences with each event.
As the economy continues to shift and/or decline we face multiple hurdles in sustaining our mission, vision, and values. The biggest of which is the ingrained mentally of greed, competition, and jealousy held stronger within the current fearful economy. We have compassion for ourselves and others and are committed to encouraging everyone to trust that all is possible when we work together.
We plan to have stead-fast focus on future community growth and awareness, regardless of today's economic conditions. Within our organizing, educating, sharing resources, and connections, we believe that our 5-year plan will build a successful future network of small business owners.
